ChMeetings Updates For May 2025

This May, ChMeetings introduced a suite of updates aimed at streamlining church operations, enhancing member engagement, and improving financial management. Here’s a detailed look at the new features:

 

People & Groups

Advanced People Search Enhancements
The Advanced People Search now includes a field search feature, allowing you to quickly locate specific filters within the extensive list.

Additionally, the Member Directory search has been expanded to include name, email, mobile, phone number, and address line, provided the information is shared.

Form Permissions for Group Leaders
Previously, Group Leaders did not have access to forms. Now, Group leaders can manage forms within their groups based on assigned role permissions, enabling them to view, add, edit, and delete forms as needed.

Branded App 

Expanded Group Chat Capacity, plus the ability to attach files in chats: We have increased the participant limit for group chats from 200 to 500 members, accommodating larger group communications. Group chats now also allow you to attach images, audio, video, DOC, DOCX, XLS, XLSX, PDF, and PPT/PPTX files. You can preview images and presentations, as well as play audio and video files in-app. Other file attachments can be downloaded.

Bible Page
You can now add the Bible page to your app by going to the Menu Setup section of your Member Portal Builder. Members and/or guests will be able to access and browse through the different books and chapters of the Bible right from within your church app. The Bible text is displayed according to your app language.

Contributions

Batch Management Enhancements
You can now create, close, or reopen contribution batches as needed, from the dedicated Contributions > Batches area. The “Close & Deposit” option streamlines workflows by locking the batch and opening a pre-filtered deposit screen for the batch’s contributions.

Daily Online Giving Batches
ChMeetings automatically creates a batch for each day that online gifts are received, named in the format: YYYY-MM-DD Online Giving. These batches display both the gross amount and associated processing fees per batch and per transaction. Processing fees are recorded as separate negative entries, using the default Category and Fund.

Deposit Workflow Enhancements
Deposits are now created from and linked to specific contribution batches. Multiple deposits can be made from the same batch, allowing for partial deposits. Fund-to-category mappings are auto-saved and pre-filled for future deposits, streamlining the process.

Event Payment Handling
You can choose to create Contribution records from event payments, by setting a Contribution Fund within your event configuration. This way, online payments are assigned to the day’s online giving batch, while cash or manual payments go to the most recently opened batch. 

Negative Donation Entries
ChMeetings now supports negative donation entries, which can be useful for recording refunds or expense adjustments related to contributions. 

 

Accounting

Pinned Accounts and Advanced Transactions Search
You can now pin frequently used accounts for quicker access and enhanced efficiency in financial management.

We also added a new Attachment filter to the Transactions Advanced Search, allowing you to perform more refined searches.

Other Updates

  1. Birthday & Anniversary Visibility: Members can now view birthdays and anniversaries directly in the calendar when this information is shared in the Member Directory.
  2. Direct Label Printing: The Dymo LabelWriter (wired version) now supports direct printing without a preview window, significantly speeding up the label printing process. Setup is required only once. 
  3. Enhanced Email Recipient Management: When sending quick emails, you can manually add additional recipients by clicking into the recipient field or adding BCC.
